This makes a lot of great arguments but I also see a lot of “yeah well people who are told they’re dumb have it a lot worse so stop complaining” in it.
From a social justice standpoint, obviously, I agree. But from a mental health perspective, being taught to base your entire sense of self-worth on your intelligence can lead to some pretty shitty results, and I think that’s worth caring about.
